My name is Betsey Karl. I live in southern NJ, USA-land of the Jersey Devil! I’m a middle-aged person who several years ago fell in love with sports photography, then decided to try film photography in an effort to learn and improve my digital work. That led me down a rabbit hole in which I discovered I love film.
For the FPP project, I am going to use my Nikkormat FtN. It dates to the early 1970’s. My dad gave it to me in the mid 1980’s. I didn’t shoot it long, but I do remember my first roll was all blurry! It turns out, he had a diopter on it for his vision. Once that was removed, I managed to get things in focus. I haven’t shot with it a lot, but I am looking forward to participating in the FFP for two reasons. First, it’s such an honor to be here! Second, I’m looking forward to really making friends with this camera and see what we can learn about each other in the process.
