Frugal Film Project – Matt Melcher

Name: Matt Melcher

Occupation: Roustabout

Lives in the Great Midwest

I’m back for another year of the Frugal Film Project. Apparently I didn’t learn my lesson. To be honest, the first year was fun and challenging and it made me want more. While the cameras and films will change throughput the year, I’m making ‘simple’ my mantra and theme for the project. All camera’s will be simple box cameras – limited adjustable inputs from me. No focus, No ISO adjustments, no apertures, nothing more than aiming at the subject and tripping the shutter. To think of it another way – nothing to get in the way.

I will be using an Anscoflex II, an Imperial Savoy, and a Kodak No.2 Cartridge Hawk-Eye Model A. I’ve owned all of them for a few years so I know what to expect. In addition to our plan to switch out film every quarter, I will switch out my camera every month. By the end of the year I will have shot each film stock with each camera. Pretty nifty, huh?!

I’ll develop and scan my photos, but also seek input from others as to what shot to submit each month. I am intrigued by the idea of what others decide is my best shot.
